Say YES to the dress

Sorry guys, I had to edit this post as I need to omit/add a few things 🙂 This post was originally posted on 16th January 2016.

Referencing back to my previous post about our roadblocks last year, we have finally booked our first vendor – The Fotorika (photography) on 25th November 2015.

Moving on to the second vendor that we booked – Bridal.

My GTB had no preferences and (I’m sure like any GTBs out there) he said, “It is your wedding day, you decide what you want to wear”.

But in all honesty, it is OUR wedding day. As much as I want to look and feel good, I want my GTB to feel the same. I want him to have a say whether he likes the Groom’s suit/attire from the shorlisted bridal vendors. Here are the my shorlisted vendors that I shared with him. The next step was to choose the bridal together.

The criteria for my chosen Bridal should be:

1) fits my budget of no more than $3k (not inclusive of extra hours or duit kipas)
2) eyebrow game should be strong
3) able to customized/strong outfits selection

From the get-go (since 2014), I had my eyes set on – Peti Solek the Bridal Room (PSTBR).

I mean…just look at the amazing eye-make up and the dress. SO GORGEOUS PLEASE.

Does PSTBR:

1) fits my budget -> YES (I referred to the package for 2014/2015)
2) eyebrow game should be strong -> YES
3) able to customized/strong outfits selection -> extra cost

Next up, The Wedding Brocade (TWB).

The-Wedding-Brocade-top-bridal

Masyaallah. The dresses and the details on the hair….!! Needless to say, TWB was my top 3 choice.

Does TWB –

1) fits my budget -> YES (I referred to the package for 2014/2015)
2) eyebrow game should be strong -> YES
3) able to customized/strong outfits selection -> extra cost

And then… I heard about ISHQ by Nora Zee through my eldest sister. At this point in the late 2014, ISHQ was relatively new to the industry.

What attracted me to ISHQ was not just their make-up, but the fact that they carry Malaysian designer dresses! I have always love love love Mimpi Kita/Syomir Izwa/Fizi Woo’s collections. They are to die for!!

Does ISHQ –

1) fits my budget -> YES (I referred to the package for 2014/2015)
2) eyebrow game should be strong -> YES
3) able to customized/strong outfits selection -> extra cost

Finally, With Love Yumi (WLY).

I WAS SOLD. For sure, I was really torn between these 4 bridals. Look at the eyebrow game.

Does WLY –

1) fits my budget -> YES
2) eyebrow game should be strong -> YES
3) able to customized/strong outfits selection -> extra cost

WLY was really new to the industry when I enquired about their services. I think they are now into their 2nd year anniversary. Hence, their collection are limited but able to customized.

When I enquired about their packages in August/September, everyone except WLY was not open for 2017 😦

So what did this newbie BTB do to survive in the #malayweddingratrace? Of course I researched more and in depth – ask around and read reviews by BTBs (I think this was one of the signs as to how I made my final decision).

Nawwarah Bridal is super new to this wedding industry. From my research, the owner, Natasha, was under Anggun but left the to open up her own bridal company. I heard about Nawwarah from a good friend of mine and boy was I in love with their packages!

Does Nawwarah –

1) fits my budget -> YES
2) eyebrow game should be strong -> her eyebrow game is more to natural look and most of her brides opted for natural looking or no trimming eyebrows
3) able to customized/strong outfits selection -> yes, one pair of customized outfit WITH NO ADDITIONAL COST

What attracted me to Nawwarah was the fact that they are also new but…customization with no extra cost?! Mane nak dapattttt? The anxiety and indecisiveness grows in me because…how to choose like that?!

I also enquired Anggun:

1) fits my budget -> slightly more than $3k but wouldn’t mind to add more $$ because of their collection
2) eyebrow game should be strong -> not as strong as the PSTBR/TWB/ISHQ or WLY
3) able to customized/strong outfits selection -> Yes

I didn’t forget about The Songket Bridal either:

1) fits my budget -> Yes
2) eyebrow game should be strong -> not as strong as the PSTBR/TWB/ISHQ or WLY
3) able to customized/strong outfits selection -> Yes

Then…in October, one of the bridesmaids from my friend’s wedding got hitched. This was how I got to know – The Atelier Weddings.

Just look at the make-up. So fresh & light.

Does The Atelier Weddings:

1) fits my budget -> Yes
2) eyebrow game should be strong -> yes although not as strong as the PSTBR/TWB/ISHQ or WLY
3) able to customized/strong outfits selection -> they are also relatively new to this industry

Just nice in September, TWB had an expo exhibition for 2016/2017 bookings. Unfortunately, they were fully booked on my wedding date. I was this close to changing my date to fit TWB (lol) because we have yet to book any vendors. It’s ok lah…tak rezeki kan.

As the GTB and I walked around Expo, we chanced upon Signature Bridal.

This Bridal deserves a special mention because they were not pushing me to buy their packages. I fell in love with their songket pieces and they were able to customized our outfits (an additional promotion of $200 only) but we are able to keep it! The Chinese lady was gentle in explaining her packages and it was super affordable please. The only reason why I did not book on the spot was because I was still waiting for PSTBR and ISHQ packages. BTBs, if you love the sanggul lintang…they have amazing headgears collections ok! Do check them out! (p/s: At the end 2015 and early 2016, 2 of my friends got married and they took Signature Bridal. I cannot stop gushing at how gorgeous they looked. I regretted lah basically…)

When PSTBR and ISHQ opened their 2017 packages….. I was even more indecisive as both Bridals fit my budget. Although the latter was slightly over my budget if I decide to wear any of their designer pieces 😦

And just like that, I have shorlisted my Bridals:

  1. ISHQ / WLY
  2. Nawwarah Bridal
  3. PSTBR
  4. The Atelier Weddings
  5. Signature Bridal

The reason Anggun and The Songket Bridal did not make it to the list was simple – I was not attracted to their collections as compared to the top 5.

Who did I pick in the end?

Stay tuned 🙂
